Is your consumer unit up to the job?
In 2015, the electrical regulations were upgraded following a speight or fires starting at the consumer unit/fuse board.
In order to lessen the spread of fire, it is now to mandatory in all consumer in domestic properties located in escape routes or under wooden staircases to be made of a non-combustible material, e.g. metal.
Pending a site visit, we can tell you if your current consumer unit is safe, and advise whether it needs replacing; bringing your installation up to the latest and safest standards set out by law.
